1. WHAT GAS IS USED FOR GAS POWERED RC?

Nitro fuel; which is short for nitro methane fuel, which has an ingredient that provides some of its own oxygen, allowing more fuel to be burned than would be possible with atmospheric oxygen only. Higher “nitro” content generally equates to higher performance as long as the engine is designed to run within the range of nitro percentages being used. Engine porting, the size and shape of the combustion chamber and several other factors determine the percentage of nitro that can be efficiently used. We recommend 20-25% content.

2. HOW FAST ARE THESE HOBBY GRADE NITRO GAS POWERED RC RACE CARS?

On stock factory set up, most hobby grade cars will reach 60 KPH, normally racers with modified cars will reach max speeds of 90 to 100 kph on race tracks with long straights. But there are extreme racers that set up their cars to run at 200 KPH on a long straight drag strip.

3. IS THIS HOBBY EXPENSIVE?

Not really, There are different categories for RC racing; there are races where everybody will be using stock factory parts only, there are also races for the PROs where there is no limit to what they want to use. Winning RC races is not about spending a lot for upgrades, but practicing your driving skills on race tracks and fine tuning your car so that it will not stall during the race. Ready to run or RTR Nitro RC race cars are now very affordable, at 19,500 it already comes complete with a radio controller.

4. WHERE CAN WE FIND A RACE TRACK TO PRACTICE?

To practice RC racing, you might want to find a track with an available lap counter and decoder, for those who doesn’t have time during the day, a race track with lights is also a must. Luckily for RC enthusiasts in Manila, Sonic speedway at boom na boom has all of these ammenities. Located at the center of the metro, it also has ample parking spaces and is very near SM mall of asia, Wensha spa n food establishments. It also has a spare parts store and technician so that you dont have to go elsewhere in case you need repairs. If you live in provinces, a vacant lot will suffice already.

5. WHAT UPGRADES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY CAR  IN CASE I  GET SERIOUS?

There are unlimited # of upgrades and gadgets to make you faster and drive better, here are some to name a few. Carbon fiber and aluminum parts are now available to make your cars lighter and more durable. Race engines may replace factory stock engines to give you more speed. 2.4 Ghz radio controllers are available to give you uninterrupted control over your car. Stronger steering servos are a must to give you better control in high speeds.Racing tires with spikes matched for the race terrain is necessary to give you better traction.  a personal AMB RC transponder is also a plus to record your improvement and bragging rights.

6. IN CASE I HAVE CHILDREN, WHAT AGE IS ADVISABLE TO START THIS HOBBY?

There is no age limit or gender limitations for you to start this hobby. Kids as young as 8, and men age 50 may start this hobby. however, driving is one thing, tuning is another thing. For kids under the age of 13, parental supervision and support with the pit work is necessary. Battery powered RC is also advisable for kids with short attention span and for beginners who are not adapt in tuning.
